MANDY’S EVENTS THREAD

WHAT THIS IS

Hello, everyone. I’d like to thank you for visiting Mandy’s Events Page. My name is mord, with a lower-case ‘m’. Well, my name isn’t really mord, but that’s what you’re forced to call me. Anyways! This is, clearly, Mandy’s Events Page, which is an awesome part of my attempts to create a better roleplaying experience for the site in the form of, well, events, and I hope that you enjoy this attempt.

Mandy’s Events are a series of seasonal releases hosted by mord, that revolve around Gene Kahn, AKA the Mandarin, the 55 Blades, the City-State of Mandarin, his HYDRA connections, the Prometheus Corporation, and its subsidiary Prometheus GenTech, Inc., alongside any other faction connections that he has. Each season will contain at least one ‘episode’, and seasons may expand to contain more than one episode, with each episode able to be comprised of multiple threads. Every thread is geared towards the finale of an episode, while each season is something that others must follow in an attempt to get to the point, uncover the mystery, discover something, and, potentially, earn rewards, should you do things correctly.

Mandy’s Events Page is the equivalent of a headquarters for my experimentations regarding my hosting of events, and attempts to lead something correctly. I’m new to this all, so it may be awkward at first, but I’ll quickly warm up to the event creation, discover new ways to handle things, and more. One of the major factors is that these are dynamic; that means that your actions, and your words will influence the plot, so your characters need to be careful about what they say, and what they do.

SEASON ONE BACKGROUND

THE FIZZY POWER GIVER

AgriTech, one of the primary divisions of the Prometheus Corporation, has finished their explorations into agricultural sciences, while avoiding genetic modification, and keeping it almost completely natural with grafting, selective breeding, forces adaption, and cloning. An 0.9% rise in stock value was seen in a single day, with each consecutive day after the release of their new products seeing an increase in stock value, and the value of the company is still increasingly steadily due to the popularity of what they created. These two products AgriTech’s special plants, and the product of a new subsidiary known as the Anderson Bottling, Co., with both of them lending an unique advantage to the Prometheus Corporation.

The first thing released happened to have been created to take advantage of the issues of poor soil, or poor conditions for agricultural independence in many nations, and led to a series of berries, fruit trees, nuts, vegetables, and cover crops being purchased by over a dozen nations. The disease resistant, lower-water-requirement, grow-anywhere plants proved to be one of the most popular agricultural items to ever be created by a Eurasian nation, and the nation of Mandarin was more than proud of it. The true purpose of these crops, however, remained hidden to the majority of the public; they are made to increase the prominence of certain genes, such as the X-Gene or alien genes, so that the next generation is more likely to develop superhuman abilities, with 0.01% developing negative abilities [I.E. Epsilon-level mutants), 5% developing normal abilities, and 95.99% reacting normally, but, with the right catalyst, people could temporarily gain superhuman abilities.

Stage Two of this will see things like vitamins, supplements, aerosols, frozen foods, and more coming into play in the same way.

That’s where the Anderson Bottling, Co.’s Anderson Prime soft drink comes into play, as it can amplify current abilities, or give those that have been exposed to the gene amplifying contents of AgriTech’s prized creation. It acts as a catalyst that allows an individual to temporarily gain superhuman abilities from the increasingly addictive additive that makes Anderson Prime so popular with everyone who has even taken a sip, as it makes them want more. It’s a highly efficient product that is becoming more, and more popular popular, and has a nanobot that allows the analysis, and long-term tracking of all individuals who drink it, which could help with tracking enemies, finding people with powers of interest, and more; the nanobots self-replicate, and can be transmitted through any bodily fluid, or breathing. The Meta Sciences Division, and their Watchman Mass Analytics System have already identified 30+ distinct mutant/human subtypes, and over 48.6 million individuals of interest, and the division gaining a much greater understanding of supernatural abilities, and their various origins, and their effects on an individual's body with over a petabyte of data, some of which contains the tracking and rating information on any number of person's powers (these power rankings, ranging from Tier I to Tier X, are effective in tracking threats), and that number, and the number of individuals of interest growing rapidly each day. This is Stage One, and the ability to remotely program the nanobots could lead to a Stage Two where a person's senses are able to be accessed, and a walking, talking reconnaissance unit is created.

The rise of addiction to the product sees dozens, if not hundreds, or even thousands temporarily developing superhuman abilities, and causing issues for the public, super teams, and law enforcement. The people that matter have yet to make the connection between the two, but the 55 Blades, a criminal group originating from the City-State of Mandarin, has been reported to have stolen the formula, and the blueprints to the Mandarin nation’s hero’s armor, alongside advanced weapons technology, to ‘The New Mandarin’.

Will the Prometheus Corporation be connected, only to recover, and cease production of Anderson Prime, while the catalyst continues to be sold by the 55 Blades in an improved form, or will they cover their tracks through shell corporations, and false identities?

THE 55 BLADES - ORIGINS

The 55 Blades are a criminal organization that originated from the City-State of the Mandarin, and, as stated in the Fizzy Power Giver, is reported to have stolen the formula to Anderson Prime, and the blueprints to the Mandarin nation’s hero’s armor, alongside advanced, power-granting weapons technology, to become ‘The New Mandarin’. The 55 Blades got their start by ‘providing’ a supercharged version of Anderson Prime, which is called Anderson Omega, which doesn’t need people to be affected by AgriTech food, which grants stronger abilities for a longer times, amplifies abilities more, for longer, and can come in a small package as a powder to snort, or pour in drinks, or a smokable solid that gives a nice high. It’s incredibly addicting, and isn’t the only thing that the 55 Blades are capable of. They mean to take control of New York’s criminal element by filling the power vacuum with their unique capabilities.

Armed with state-of-the-art technology, known to include directed energy weapons, and powerful pieces of equipment, “stolen” from the City-State of Mandarin, and the Prometheus Corporation, they are heavily armed. Not only that, but they are well-trained due to many members being military officers of Mandarin, or security officers of the Prometheus Corporation, with newer recruits being trained by these individuals. This group is extremely dangerous. They also dabble in high-end cocaine, heroin, modified, chi-infused pot, and opiates that enhance the physical attributes of a person./

The public has been led to believe that a man who stole the technology for the armor to the Mandarin, stole AgriTech data, and enhanced certain attributes to make it stronger, and more addicting, but this New Mandarin is actually Gene Kahn, even if he stays in his armor, which has changed in appearance, to keep up the ruse. Now, there seems to be two Mandarins, but will they seize control of New York’s criminal element, or will this little experiment fail?

THE MONARCH COMPLEX

GENE KAHN - THE MANDARIN

SUNDAY, MAY 1, 2016

The Monarch Complex was built inside the borders of the territories that the City-State of Mandarin has dominion over to act as a base of operations, host to one of the most powerful supercomputing networks on the planet, a research laboratory, a training and testing area, and more. The complex is made up of dozens of buildings, all hardened against multiple types of attacks, which are concealed by a cloaking field that also has a Model 14, Mk. 3 Mass Shield Generator protecting it with its hexagon ‘grid’ pattern. Each of these buildings has a different purpose, with some for storage, some for development, some for testing, and some for access to the underground area resting underneath the 18 kilometer large radius that the Ground Parcel takes up.

The underground area covers over 120 square kilometers when you’re looking down, and that’s just the first floor of the complex, with the absolutely massive underground region being a weaponized, monolithic superstructure where the wondrous takes place. The development of dozens of different weapons, and technologies takes place here, with the secret complex housing Mandarin military forces and researchers, HYDRA operatives and scientists, and Prometheus Corporation employees, security, and researchers year-round. It is protected by an array of weapons able to rise from the ground, or deploy from the ceiling, as well as a set of strategic launch silos, a hanger of jet aircraft and armored vehicles, and the infamous Warden-class Large Engagement Unit, which is a series of mostly autonomous, massive armed drones that is the answer to Trask’s Sentinel program.

The Complex was recently renovated with the latest technologies, and maintains the capacity to deploy soldiers anywhere on the globe at a moment’s notice due to it hosting one of the most advanced teleportation technologies in the globe. The Gateway Initiative saw the Gateway, and several others like it, itself built using modified Makluan technology merged with technologies of Kahn’s own design, and it allows HYDRA, Mandarin forces, and the Prometheus Corporation to travel nearly anywhere in space. The Gateway is just that, a gateway capable of creating an exit portal wherever wanted, and, yes, that means that they can travel with ease interdimensionally, and then returning by simply pushing a ‘recall’ button on their armors, which creates a return portal.

Development on the CTW-32 ‘Spiker’ had just finished during Gene Kahn’s monthly visit to check up on the facility, and everything going on in it, in person over a 5-day visit that he schedules in as soon as possible so that he can get his reports, and begin any new projects. The CTW-32 ‘Spiker’ is a Crystalline Technologies weapon that fires .45 caliber armor piercing crystal spikes that, once coming into contact with something, leave a residue, and that residue begins to grow at a rapid rate, with the crystal shards, and the crystal itself growing things at an even more rapid rate. The ‘Spiker’ is a pistol-like weapon equipped with 15 of of these rounds per magazine, and outfitted with the best smart gun weapons, including biometrics, connectivity to other weapons, and more.

The ‘Spiker’, as a sidearm, no matter how lethal it is, would be accompanied by a PR-16 ‘Fire Spear’ Plasma Rifle as the primary weapon to use against the enemies of Mandarin, HYDRA, and Prometheus Corporation armed forces. The PR-16 ‘Fire Spear’ has a dozen different pieces of equipment, and is an extremely sophisticated, and sleek weapon that has the some of the same technology as the ‘Spiker’. It is a double-barreled weapon, where one barrel fires the plasma in everything from a wave, to a blast, to a sphere, with the plasma able to be set to ‘penetrate’, or ‘explode’, while the other barrel can fire a liquid metal round; liquid metal rounds are extremely lethal, and armor penetrating, and is held together via a long-range electromagnetic pinpoint field projector that allows control over the liquid metal bullet, while the helmet created by the Prometheus Corporation would grant, among other things, the ability to see it through walls.

The Warrior-class Standard Smart Engagement Armor is a highly advanced set of thin armor able to protect an individual as well as the greatest armor systems, and maintain the thinness of cloth. It is made to be worn underneath the Gladiator Model 2, Mk. 2 Power Armor, and both make use of some amazing Makluan and Kahn-made technology, that enable enhanced strength, logistics, avionics and propulsion systems, high grade communication systems, and a variety of other things. Both of these are weaponized, but users can carry the ‘Spiker’, and the ‘Fire Spear’ as hand-held arms that are synchronized with the visor view, and the technology in either the Warrior-class Armor, or the Gladiator Power Armor.

The Warden-class Large Engagement Unit is a series of advanced drones, that are largely autonomous, made using Khan-made, and modified Makluan technology in order to pose a highly capable competitor to Trask’s Sentinels. Due to the order already having been placed on Trask’s Sentinels, the Warden-class Large Engagement Unit wasn’t purchased by O.N.E., but was purchased by the City-State of Mandarin, a couple of government units in over a dozen nations, and a couple of individuals. They come in varying sizes, with all kinds of armaments, with the smallest being the size of a man, and the largest being around 50 meters tall, and having the capacity to lay waste to entire settlements.

According to the Mandarin, everything seemed to be in order, which meant that he would spend the rest of the 4 days he would be here reading reports, filing data into his brain via his armor, which is in the form of a wristlet, and outlining his orders for the month, and some for the year. ”Hmm,” he let his hand run over a terminal on a metallic, silver-gray wall, inhaling sharply as he felt the signal from his brain routing to the wristlet, and that routing to the terminal. One of the big things he wanted was a new type of unmarked, stealth-based Warden-class LEUs, that had a different appearance from the others, as well as a different technology signature, that would be able to act as the black operations branch of thew Warden-class LEUs, so that Mandarin, Prometheus, and Gene Kahn couldn’t be held accountable for anything, while another that was similar in purpose was being made for HYDRA.

Hello! This is an OOC thread, and any and all information that is written about in the individual records that I write up are not to be used to acquire information ICly. There isn't really a reason to suspect anything ICly, either - well, there isn't a reason for suspicion, yet. If you have any questions, suggestions, want something written in the records, or anything similar, send me a PM. A PM would be great, as I don't really want anyone posting below.

I'll update this thread in the future to make it look prettier, and add pictures to posts when I do update this thread, but, for now, it's going to be pretty basic. Thanks for reading!

Kahn, Gene | AKA - The Mandarin
Note for Reader: Photo is taken from, one of his published images to display the extent of his control

WARNING - TOP SECRET - EYES ONLY

Gene Kahn isn't who he says he is. He acts like himself in public, laughs like himself, lives like a human, but he has a dark side. He has many names. Too many names for him to be considered your average being of superhuman capabilities. Gene Kahn is a highly organized, meticulous individual of extraordinary tactical, martial, and manipulative prowess, who can lead international summits just as well as he can lead his soldiers under the guise of the Terror of the East known as the Mandarin. He is ruler of the City-State of Mandarin, and the public believes that he, and his champion, [again, the Mandarin. Perpetually... the Mandarin], are different individuals, while his diplomatic immunity in over 93 nations makes him one of the most untouchable men on the planet. He's fun-loving, and extremely charismatic, and polite to the point that it's almost as if he needs to be polite, probably because of his past. He's 143 years old, and a true member of the Clan of Khan. The Mandarin is slightly arrogant, when it comes to his power, and intelligence, but he is constantly seeking to fill a void in his life with a lover. Recently, it's come to his attention that he prefers men, but the company of a woman is always welcomed. He wants to open up his heart to someone, but keeps himself from getting too close to people until he's absolutely sure that they can be trusted.

He's powerful in more ways than one. A myriad of abilities led to the dispatching of numerous SHIELD operatives in one fell swoop, with the only evidence left after clean-up being a recording by a HYDRA satellite that helped lead the Mandarin into being a member of HYDRA. He rose up the ranks quickly, too quickly for it to be normal, and soon had his former bosses under his control. Those who aren't under his control are too important, or protected against psionics. It is our suspicion that one of the Mandarin's abilities has to do with the human mind, but he won't reveal any information to us unless he wants to.

I've been tasked with investigating the Mandarin, and finding out the truth behind him.

UPDATE: I found something. It's awful. I'll type it in tomorrow, but... my God.
UPDATE: I really see no reason to investigate the Mandarin any further, and am going to give the green light to 'go ahead'.
UPDATE: I feel like I want to rip my own throat out. I'm going to.

Allies
 • Various Asian Nations - As ruler of what can be described as 'the most popular nation in Asia', Gene Kahn is notorious for his leveraging of political connections
 • The League of Shadows - A reasonable alliance has been forged with the League of Shadows, in exchange for diplomatic immunity to anyone wanted in order to extend the capabilities of the League, as long as Gene Kahn can call on them in an equally impacting manner

Enemies
 • The Avengers - Though he hasn't actually encountered them, yet, Gene Kahn is tired of dealing with the aftermath of their actions, and the results it has on his nation, company, himself, or other interests
 • SHIELD - As one of the highest ranking commanders in HYDRA, and one of the most secretive, SHIELD is an extremely dangerous adversary, and threatens everything that Kahn holds close

Powers

POWERS

Chi Manipulation: The Mandarin’s superhuman physical prowess has extended into the ability to manipulate significant amounts of Chi, which is a form of life. This has granted him biological immortality (he can be killed like a normal person, but can’t die of aging, poison, or disease), the ability to go years without the things most people can’t go very long without (food, water, sleep, et cetera), self-augmentation (he can improve his physical attributes, and his powers/the power of his rings by significant amounts, to the point that his physical attributes are superhuman), chi infusion (he can infuse things with chi, for various things including enchantment, and enhancing the physical attributes and powers of others until they exhaust the Chi he has granted them [though he can create an amulet, or ring that constantly siphons power from his massive reserves to them, if he wants, in varying levels]), he can turn himself, items and objects, and others invisible by using chi, he can heal himself and others, he can project chi in energy attacks, blasts, waves, and more, and even create powerful life-force constructs. It is also possible for him to use Chi-based Sorcery. The Chi manipulation abilities of the Mandarin are potent, and capable of destroying his opponents when combined with his other abilities.

Makluan-influenced Physiology: Gene Kahn has become a dragon-like, or snake-like entity, with his physiology becoming more and more affected by the Makluan Power Rings embedded in his spine, but he is often capable of ‘turning off’ these features. For instance, he has eyes that can form slits, and take on a yellow tint, that are capable of easily seeing in the dark, and switching to infrared naturally, while they can also see underwater. He has a forked tongue, which isn’t often turned into a normal tongue, that he can use to snatch things out of thin air, or literally smell the air using enhanced taste. He often develops what is the beginning of scales whenever he gets stressed, with the amount of spread depending on the level of stress. Gene Kahn also can use his fingers to exert bony claws from his nails, with these claws being incredibly hard. His body takes on the mystical attributes of a dragon, and he has reflexes, balance, agility, and flexibility that is far superior to that of the finest human athlete, with these being at supernatural levels. His muscle density is slowly increasing, with his bones strengthening and lightening up, but no noticeable effect can be detected, yet. He can manifest fangs to inject a variety of different toxins, including those from every snake on the planet. He can communicate with most reptiles, including dragons, and has each of his senses enhanced. The full extent of the effect of the Makluan Power Rings on his body is unknown, or at least the full extent of what they can do to his body is unknown. The combination of these traits with his manipulation of Chi, or life-force, has given him the ability to make his Chi toxic, whenever wanted, make the Chi give a person a sort of life-force virus when wanted, and allow him to track the people his Chi has touched. One of the other things that is changing are each of his organs, with them changing shape completely being likely if he continues to expose himself to high amounts of Makluan energies.

EQUIPMENT, ITEMS, & RESOURCES:

The Prometheus Corporation + Security Forces + Wealth: The Prometheus Corporation is a powerful, multi-billion dollar corporation with powerful, well-armed security forces using high-tech weaponry, that has granted the CEO, the Mandarin, with a high amount of wealth.

Armor, Longbow & Sword of Ghengis Khan: Armor

The War Armor of Ghengis Khan is a rarely dawned heirloom forged in mystic fire many years years ago by one of Gene’s ancestors, and its power is great in that it is very useful, and very durable. Usually only dawned when a battlefield situation is going to be met, the extremely advanced armor, updated and rebuilt over time, is capable of shrinking down into a wristlet. It has been enhanced with cybernetics, and features a HUD, an in-built artificial intelligence, cellular connectivity, and an extender for telepathic capabilities that allows a sufficiently large and complex network of minds to be build in such a way that even with 200 people it wouldn’t be overwhelming because of structuring. The War Armor of Ghengis Khan also supports other powerful features, things that have kept it in near perfect shape for millennium despite all the battles it has gone through, and some of these trades it shares with the Sword of Khan.

Its suite of electronics if very sophisticated, and supported by an advanced build.

It features a 4K, HDR screen in the visor on a transparent low temperature polycrystalline backplane. It has a feature built-in from before Gene’s body became affected by his Makluan Power Rings that keeps the screen only using red light to sustain the user’s night vision, which is going to be useful for future bearers of the armor. The visor comes with a cleaning cloth, and wax cleaner that, when applied, cleans off germs, bugs, dirt, grime, and other contaminates, and leaves a wax coating that will last up to a month.

The built-in dataspike, trajectory projection, physical analysis, and software-based identification systems alongside a remote control, drone command, & unit command and control mechanisms allow unparalleled software functionality, next to the application system, and the ability to control his drones, and even control his “clones” (robotic cones, really). The high definition, transparent, graphical user interface makes use of applications to enable much higher functionality. The applications won’t be listed, but they are incredibly useful.

The weapons system of the armor is largely based on heavily modified, and updated Makluan technology, and uses the armor’s modular composition combined with nanites, and “cores” that can be built on using the nanites to offer a wider array of weapons without swapping out the cores, and even more functionality because of the modular composition. Powered by the same technology that makes up its point defense, CIWS, directed energy, and missile-based weapons system that also allows it to connect with technology, and more, it has an unending power source. The weapons systems, like all other systems, can have power transferred between it and other systems via a combination of crystalline technology cores, and crystals, while it can also use self-replicating nanites to create new ammo, or to “turn on” the hefty directed energy weapons.

The armor is unnaturally light for its size and the metal it is made out of, with the enchanted alloy being able to repair itself outside of battle, and granting invulnerability against natural elements, with it being about as durable as what the Defiant Sword has, if not more so due to its force field generator, field manipulator module that is synchronized to his Chi manipulation abilities, and Makluan Power Rings to enable the user to manipulate the force field, and ability to absorb kinetic energy, and turn it into energy for the suit to use, or use it in attacks (though the kinetic absorption module is a late-development prototype, and can be overloaded far more easily than any post development thing). For the Mandarin, it grants him the ability to rapidly learn anything from the Internet or by watching things because it is directly connected to his mind. The graft of the armor to Gene keeps him from being able to remove even the wristlet because, if done, it would kill Gene, leaving the armor only able to be removed when he has become deceased. In addition, it grants supernaturally enhanced attributes (though parts of the armor can be separated when it is deployed to me modified, or having something implanted in it. The armor parts can also be called back to Gene, and psionically controlled, same with the Sword, including even the bandage-like underarmor which can be used for various attacks), such as enhanced speed, strength, reflexes, balance, agility, and various other things due to a deep connection to the mind. He can move at speeds approaching when flying Mach 5, and can run at Mach 1, fly into the upper atmosphere, and even space, where he can reach warp speeds safely, and he can also lift up to 65 tons with this. The armor is an unholy item, much like the Sword, and can be found to create a “beacon” to dark spirits, demons, and the undead, as well as other creatures of darkness, calling them to it, causing the luck of the person it is combating to go down, creating eerie events, allowing easy communication with the supernatural, and more. Another power of the armor is to create these gorgeous metallic wings that are capable of cutting through things like butter and the user can feel through them like the rest of the armor.

The Sword of Khan, an item used much more often than the War Armor, has the same capabilities of being unnaturally light, being comprised of the same alloy, and being able to repair itself outside of battle. It is highly resistant to mystical energy, and is known to be able to kill higher beings, and permanently dispose of demons, mystical spirits, or “undying” races able to resurrect themselves, alongside the permanent disposing of Gods, and other such creatures. The blade may or may not be invulnerable depending on who you talk to, and is able to cut through nearly anything that you can think of because of the super sharp, mystical blade edges that it has. The blade is unholy, and its most powerful ability is the capability to “purify” with a highly destructive white light able to destroy a radius that includes everything from a home to a massive complex, and potentially larger.

The Longbow of Kahn is a similarly powerful artifact, possessing all of the traits of the Sword of Kahn, but being able to generate nearly any kind of arrow that the Mandarin could want with a mere thought, ranging from rope arrows, to poison arrows, to fire arrows, to arrows that explode on contact. As time went on, he began developing new arrows, and gained the ability to create these, as well as turning the powerful white light into an arrow that exploded on contact, and engulfed a large area in its destructive light. He gained the ability to modify arrows with his rings, or other artifacts, and can be seen using the Longbow of Kahn to hit targets multiple miles away with a relatively high amount of accuracy, or even separate arrows into multiple other arrows in mid-air.

All of these can change shape at the Mandarin’s will to look like whatever he wants, whether it be a cane for the sword, or a wristlet for his armor.

Point is, this stuff is killer!

(This is based off of, and largely copied from a section on another character)

’Magnus’ Company Hover Car: The company hover car that Gene Kahn drives uses technology able to be found in other Prometheus Corporation products, including the capacity to transform from a normal car into a hovercraft making use of the Earth’s electromagnetic field. It is weaponized, very fast, highly advanced, and capable of much more than people give it credit for.

Watchman Weaponized Satellite Surveillance & Strike Network: The Watchman Satellite Network is one under the control of the Mandarin, and the Prometheus Corporation capable of surveillance, and orbital strikes through ballistic, and kinetic weaponry, while is can also launch UAVs and UCAVs, as well as various other things.

Modular Spinal Implant: Designed by the Prometheus Corporation’s most brilliant scientists, the Mandarin possesses the Modular Spinal Implant grafted to his spine, which allows him a high resistance to various energy types, grounds him against electricity, and allows him to very easily absorb various relics, and artifacts into himself with a mere touch. The Modular Spinal Implant is capable of storing all ten of the Makluan Power Rings, sending them outside of the body, and storing various other things. It has a resuscitation mechanism in it, is capable of allowing almost anything to be repaired, with time (though it would take as long as it would on a normal human, unless he uses Chi), and is extremely useful for its capacity to reduce the size of artifacts, relics, and technology, and allowing the Mandarin to harness their power.

NOTE: The MSI only does a few things itself; shrinking, taking artifacts, relics, and technology into it, grounding & energy resistance, resuscitation & great healing [though at a normal rate]

Implants: Gene has various implants, which allow him to interface with technology, give him a HUD that can be turned on an off, grant him the ability to change which spectrum of light he sees in, allow him to project trajectories, do mathematics, run various background processes in his brain (he can run up to 1,000 different processes this way), make calls, connect to his satellites, and control technology of his from a distance, as well as granting him technopathy, scanning others and items, and seeing their power level and abilities visually (though this is a taxing process, and the more powerful a person is, the more likely that he could develop a severe migraine).

Makluan Ring Powers: The Makluan Power Rings are objects of incredible power, with each granting special abilities to its wielder, and having general abilities on top of that that are equally helpful. Originating from the planet known as Maklu-4, and discovered in a crashed starship in the late 1800s by a truly brilliant boy who would become the Mandarin, they were originally sources of power, and, as such, can be used to power many things. This means that each of the rings grants the user the excellent ability to imbue things with energy, activate and deactivate electronics, and this, on top of the Mandarin’s cyberpathy-granting armor, means that technology is but a play toy. When united, the rings grant the power to understand Makluan science, and sorcery in great strides, and enhance the brainpower of the user because each Power Ring will act as an additional “processor” to the brain.

Gene’s already incredible mind would then take strides, and he would become the grandmaster of Makluan science, and magic, instead of “just” being the man who mastered a science in a way superior to the race that created it. That isn’t the only thing they grant when united, however, as they also grant the ability to make more Makluan Power Rings, all of them in the user’s own image, meaning that they grant the powers the user wants. This is an enhancement of each ring’s natural ability to create a less powerful version of itself, and it is to be noted that the less powerful versions created by the Mandarin’s enhanced rings won’t be enhanced at all, and will be weaker than the baseline versions, but still powerful.

The rings are noted to have power over biology, but not in the traditional sense; when worn, the hands of those with the rings on them begin to turn into dragon-like hands, but when they are implanted near an area such as the spine, or another area that can deliver things directly to the brain, or through the bloodstream, they will slowly begin to turn the user into a superhuman creature. The psychic connection of the rings is powerful, and this allows the Mandarin, who has the strongest psychic connection to the rings, to know the location of all rings, and Makluan technology innately, to be able to recognize alien technology, and act as a walking encyclopedia of Makluan technology, though he can already do this due to skills (it just enhances these attributes). The psychic connection is something that would also allow the Mandarin to attempt to take control over those wearing the rings, but he also develops the ability to access the senses of those wearing them, can the thoughts of those wearing them, can modify the power of each ring, call the rings to him, and, otherwise, have near-complete control over the rings.

There are several natural benefits of each ring, some talked about above, and some that will be spoken of below, with the original Makluan rings having the most powerful effects, and everything else, normally, having muted effects. It is important to remember that the Mandarin is the most skilled user of the Makluan Power Rings, and that’s why he has the ability to use them to the extent he has, as well as being the reason for his ability to modify, or even make copies of his rings, and, to a further extent, entirely new rings. Gene Kahn’s ability to make copies of rings, or make new rings, and the amount of power he has over the rings, means he can modify the attributes of them, granting certain abilities, or removing them on a whim, while also creating new abilities on a whim, and even influencing the original Ten Rings of Power to ‘edit’ the powers the rings grant to others that are wearing them.

For instance, each of the rings, even just one of them, grants the ability to teleport to a maximum range that hasn’t yet been reached, and is unknown, not to mention the capacity to travel between realms. Unlike the portal, and singularity, or wormhole creation abilities of the Nightmare ring, these abilities are available with every ring, and aren’t capable of doing everything that Nightmare can grant, which includes the ring’s ability to create interdimensional portals. The natural abilities of the relics only grow, and are unlocked the stronger the link between the user and the rings is, granting great power to those who deserve it.

The rings can record things, store data, scan things with excellent sensors, and deliver that information directly to the brain of the Mandarin, The Makluan rings allow the user who has the closest connection to them. They can create three-dimensional, interactive holograms, act as computers, run simulations in real-time, and are known for being incredibly powerful processors that only grow in usefulness the stronger a psychic connection is. They also have software in them, including mapping and tracking software that act as a built-in locator, or map creator that creates maps of various types based on gathered data, that allows the user to create a map to nearly anything, or anyone, as long as the user has something belonging to, or important to an individual, something that belongs to the person, something that is a part of the person or object, or if they know what the person, object, or place looks like (though this is reserved for higher tier users).

Due to being powerful computers, and a self-sustaining energy source with highly advanced sensors connected directly to the mind, the on-board artificial intelligence in the rings that was implanted by the Mandarin, named Sovereignty (an A.I. find in many of the Mandarin’s personal items), the Makluan artifacts have an adaptive database, and connect directly to everything the Mandarin owns. The adaptive database is an advanced form of what is found in the Mandarin’s armor, and gathers data intelligently, before organizing it based on factors like importance, detail, date acquired, location acquired, and more, and can place it in an easy-to-read, or hear, format. The adaptive database also stores everything that the Mandarin has ever created, and it is unlikely that the Mandarin would ever duplicate the database, which requires multiple biometric methods, or permission, to access, and also slightly less unlikely that he would ever grant the adaptive database ability, and Sovereignty to any copy, or new ring he created, though it is possible that he could create variants of these.

Other abilities of the rings include rendering any level of telepathy useless against the user, the ability to write things into, or onto, nearly anything wanted through a form of thermal imprinting, and just being helpful all around (of course, the Mandarin can turn these abilities “off”, like all other abilities, at will, if he wants to be open to assault, or lose his automatic writing ability, or wants to take these abilities away from someone else wearing the rings).

Heart of Darkness: The Heart of Darkness is an incredibly powerful artifact that has significantly improved the power of the Mandarin’s rings using various shards, while the rest of the artifact was condensed, and had most of its power focused into it, before it was forged into a ring and placed in the Modular Spinal Implant. It grants the Mandarin the ability to induce fear, create tension between individuals, make people hallucinate what he wants, enhance emotions by dozens of times, activate emotions, corrupt objects and artifacts, corrupt individuals themselves, and also has the ability to grant powers in exchange for sanity, or souls. The Heart of Darkness, unfortunately, slowly turns its user into a dark being, and corrupts them with great evil, due to it being pure darkness, though the more issues it makes for others, and the more souls it acquires, feeds the Heart of Darkness enough that it will slow more, or even stop completely (even if the complete stop is just temporary) (another benefit is the psionic shielding). The orb also has other abilities, each of them of incredible power, but the Mandarin has yet to call upon them all in full power, aside from occasionally speeding himself up with its cellulokinetic abilities, reliving events, manipulating his age, and the ages of both people and things (to the point that he can age a or granting immortality to others), and he has yet to tap into the wish granting, or any of the several other abilities that the Heart of Darkness grants those who wield it.

Eye of Yin: The Eye of Yin is a powerful artifact that was absorbed into the Mandarin’s rings, and grants him a relatively high amount of power with the 10 primary rings, enhancing their power by many time, and allowing him enhanced Chi Manipulation abilities. The Eye of Yin’s power courses through him, and fights against the slow corruption of the Heart of Darkness, though not very successfully. The Eye of Yin is amazing to hold, but the full extent of its abilities have yet to be tapped by the Mandarin, with only about 40% of its power being used at this moment.

Interceptor Ray Ring: Based off of the Makluan Power Ring technology, and the original Interceptor Ray, the Interceptor Ray Ring allows the Mandarin to create an interceptor ray that is capable of catching nearly anything that moves, regardless of speed, and returning it to wherever the Mandarin wishes to send it, or simply just catching it. The Interceptor Ray Ring has an incredible range, one as long as as the original Interceptor Ray, if not longer, but is limited to what the Mandarin is able to see, meaning it is fairly limited, unless he uses a camera or something.

Remaker: The Remaker is an incredibly powerful component of the original 10 Rings of Power, and grants the Mandarin the ability to easily rearrange the atomic and molecular make-up of matter. He could do things such as turn someone into stone, make air toxic, and more, with the enhancement of the Eye of Yin, and the Heart of Darkness. It also allows shapeshifting.

Influence: Influence allows the Mandarin to create concussive energy blasts, and sonic waves.

Spin: Spin was originally limited to creating vortexes, but now has granted the Mandarin full-blown aerokinetic abilities to the point that he is capable of creating tornadoes ranging to F5, though creating one to two F5 tornadoes exhausts the rings power, and he can’t use it for 20 minutes after creating one. The ring can also be used to create normal vortexes, which can be used to redirect attacks, or absorb them entirely, and also to levitate objects, and grant the Mandarin the capacity to fly, if he so wishes. Spin is killer when it comes to precision attacks, which seems to be the focus of the ring, with more powerful assaults being harder to create, or taking more energy.

Spectral: Spectral can generate at least 40 seconds of a highly destructive ring blast able to destroy almost anything by decimating its atomic and molecular bonds, and it has been extended to being able to affect animate, and organic matter. After going through the 40 seconds, however, the ring will need to recharge for 20 minutes.

Nightbringer: When Nightbringer was empowered by the Eye of Yin, and the Heart of Darkness, it granted the Mandarin the ability to actually manipulate the Darkforce, instead of just generating a powerful veil of it. It is powerful enough to open wormholes, and grants portal creation abilities, with higher tier users being able to create interdimensional portals.

Daimonic: Daimonic grants the Mandarin complete control over the electromagnetic spectrum, and, though rarely used to its full potential, it is one of the most powerful rings in the Mandarin’s amazing arsenal. While photoniokinesis (electromagnetism manipulation) is a widespread umbrella ability, it also has other powers such as gravikinesis, and the ability to generate and manipulate explosions, or explosive energy. Due to its complication, however, it is difficult to fully master, and only those who are highly educated, who have enough experience, or are highly intelligent are the people with the chance to ever fully harness the ring, and even then it is difficult, and requires a combination of all three for full power, well, the chance to achieve its full potential.

Incandescence: After being improved by the Heart of Darkness, and Eye of Yin, Incandescence began to infuse its user with the ability of pyrokinesis, heat manipulation, and combustion.

The Liar: The Liar grants the Mandarin various psionic abilities, which have extended from completely realistic mental illusions, and the ability to temporarily paralyze someone, to complete telepathic capabilities. However, the extended telepathic abilities are stronger when he speaks, and gives a command such as “forget this happened”, which means he has Verbal Neurokinesis.

Zero: Like Incandescence, the Makluan Ring known as Zero turned into something that granted the user the ability to manipulate one side of the spectrum of cold and heat, with Zero granting cryokinesis, cold manipulation, and freezing.

Life: Life is an incredible ring that allows the user to create life forms that are submissive to them, such as servants, henchmen, creatures, and even things such as the Mandarin’s classic Guardians and Marauders.

WEAKNESSES:

Important Note: He’s not a God. He can be defeated, and won’t be doing anything crazy, or God-like. The Mandarin could be defeated, and combatted by his foes, such as Defiant Sword, and would have quite the hard time going up against fellow heavy hitters. I just didn’t want him to be gimmicky, and silly.

Glass Cannon: He doesn’t have any kind of superhuman durability. If you can actually find a way to get close (or far away) enough, which shouldn’t be too hard, you’ll quickly find out how human he is.

Armor: He doesn't use it much at all (it's, like, gear up time if he does... and there's something VERY serious going on, half the time. He didn't dawn it for decades after World War II, until he fought the Defiant Sword), and he isn't a very skilled pilot because of that.

Chi Manipulation: The Mandarin can easily manipulate his Chi, but cannot ever manipulate the Chi of others - not that he would need to, since he can go years without food or water through imbuing himself with Chi. Chi Manipulation has a limited range of 100 meters for energy constructs (though this is how far away he can create them, and not how far they can go), and 30 meters for every other ability that it possesses. The more he uses this ability, the more Chi that he uses up, meaning he shouldn’t use this ability constantly. For the invisibility, a normal amount of Chi will give a 30 minute limit, and more Chi of the same amount will add another 30 minutes, but spamming this makes things taxing. A big limitation of this ability is that Chi will wear off. The longer he goes without food, water, and sleep, the weaker he becomes, the less he can use his rings (it would actually be taxing to use his psionic connection with the rings), and a variety of other things. It doesn’t matter what happened in canon, I’m not going to let him go decades without food, water, and sleep, and lack any noticeable consequences.

Makluan-influenced Physiology: The scales are VERY slight... I mean, they're not even fully developed. It's basically just flesh slightly changing shape. He’s become vulnerable to the same things that snakes, and dragons are vulnerable to. As a result of his enhanced senses, his senses can be overwhelmed, which could be temporarily debilitating.

Heart of Darkness: The Heart of Darkness has incredible power, and has only served to improve the Mandarin’s various pieces of technology, with several shards left over for future use, but it is also an incredibly corrupting influence. The Heart is slowly turning Gene Kahn into a herald of terror, fear, darkness, and evil, as it transforms his biology, strengthening him, but darkening his soul, but is doing so slowly. It can only be stopped by souls, or causing large amounts of issues for others. The change is inevitable. The biggie is that he could die because of this, instead of changing.

Interceptor Ray Ring: The Interceptor Ray Ring can only be used on things that the Mandarin can see, even though it has a great range, meaning that high powered cameras can be important.

Remaker: The Remaker doesn’t have many weaknesses, but has a limitation of being most effective on things within a 100 meter radius, and being limited to working on things in a 150 meter radius.

Influence: Influence is limited to the range, and by the physics of whatever energy or radiation type it is projecting, and it cannot do more than manipulate its projected beams by changing their direction, making them hit multiple things, et cetera, and that’s about all the Mandarin can do manipulation-wise with influence.

Spin: Spin is a precision focused ring, meaning it is most powerful in precision, except when it comes to vortexes and levitation, with it granting powerful aerokinetic abilities, but needing a 20 minute recharge if it does anything as powerful as, or more powerful than an F5 tornado before it can be used again. For many things, its range is limited to 150 meters for accuracy, but larger, area-of-effect things don’t need this precision limitation, because of their nature, and are instead limited by nature.

Spectral: Spectral, while incredibly powerful, is limited to 40 seconds of activity before it has to be recharged for 20 minutes.

Nightbringer: Nightbringer is limited to 150 meters in range, and the Mandarin can’t make complex constructs, such as guns, or anything similar.

Daimonic: Daimonic, being what is likely the Mandarin’s most powerful piece of technology, doesn’t have many weaknesses, and is capable of influencing something as large as a skyscraper, or stadium, though this can be taxing on the ring, or the Mandarin himself.

Incandescence: Incandescence is limited to things within a 150 meter radius.

The Liar: The Liar is limited to things within a 150 meter radius, and vocal range for more powerful effects.

Zero: Zero is limited to things within a 150 meter radius.

Appearance

Gene Kahn stands tall, and powerful at 6 feet 2 inches, with him having a rather fit, and extremely well-toned body that weighs in at around 215 pounds, at least according to his last medical exam. His body has been trained to peak levels since he was a young child, and all throughout his education he has been taught on how to treat his body well, lest his body devolves into utter mush. His muscles aren’t bulging at ridiculous amounts like those wholly silly bodybuilders on the fronts of magazines, who are proud of their somewhat disgusting bodies, and are instead toned, and lithe, with a healthy amount of enlargement having occurred when he developed his physique. His specialized diet, extensive training, and use of Chi make his body have a healthy glow, and even after 143 years his skin is still young, and youthful, without a wrinkle in view. He appears to be in his mid-twenties, which grants him a rather unique perspective in life since people usually underestimate him, or believe that he is a prodigy of some sort, both of which grants him an advantage.

He is a rather attractive man, and has been since he was just a boy growing up in a nameless, hopeless village somewhere on the mainland of the Empire of the Song during the late 1800s, when the world was both beautiful, and terrifying. His highly symmetrical face is improved by lush lashes, healthy brows, green eyes, and gorgeous black hair that he takes care of as much as is humanly possible. He takes care of himself out of some twisted idea that vanity is required on his part; well, he’d take care of himself, anyways, but he’s just downright vain about every little thing that has to do with his appearance, and will spend a good portion of the early grooming himself for hours. His mixed race creates an incredible light mocha color, that has the beginning of scales forming just underneath them whenever he is stressed, his eyes taking on a vibrant yellow color with serpent-like pupils. Gene’s skin tone is pampered by specialized, completely organic lotions, creams, and oils, keeping his flesh elastic, moisturized, smooth, and as milky as a mixed race man of Asian descent can have his skin be. The Mandarin also wears a copy of each of his ten rings, with their original powers, on his fingers, and in a necklace so he can give them to those who have earned them, with these ten copies not being as powerful as his current rings, but being as powerful (or about as powerful) as his rings were before their upgrades.

Gene has a favorite type of clothings in several different forms, all of which are casual-formal, semi-formal, and modern formal wear, with him preferring more modern, up-to-date clothing, and often mixing and matching his wardrobe. One outfit, for example, would be one of his fine gray and black vests, combined with a red bowtie, nice black pants, and colorful dress shoes, wingtips, or even high-end sneakers. He doesn’t wear lower-end clothing, and even has a division of the Prometheus Corporation that makes several successful lines of clothing that cater to the Mandarin’s fun-loving style. He likes accessories, his favorite being powerful relics, and artifacts that grant him abilities, but are fashionable, and he may also carry an attractive, ornate cane when it goes along with his outfit. On his wrist is his computer wristlet that is able to transform into his armor, deploy his sword, or manifest his longbow into existence so that he may easily combat his enemies. Overall, he considers fashion to be important to his appearance, and how the public sees him.

Personality

Gene Kahn’s 143 years on Earth have left him with an incredibly well-developed personality that has developed over time with his aging, and the rest of the world developing. While some immortals stay largely the same throughout their obscenely long lifespans, Gene has chosen a path different enough to enable him to evolve. It’s been a strange 14 decades, with two world wars, countless conflicts, the development of nuclear weapons, and the acceptance of homosexuals, but the Mandarin has come to embrace all of it.

After his first encounter with a homosexual in 1961, Gene Kahn had his eyes opened, and he realized that gender was irrelevant to him in affairs of love, and lust. He came to understand that he was able to make love to either gender, and began to enjoy his newfound sexuality. Now, the Mandarin is an out-of-the-closet bisexual man not chained down by the unfortunate bigotry that you would very easily find back in a past that hated people like him.

Known for his discovery of a crashed Makluan spacecraft at a young age, and his deciphering of their technology before man could even launch rockets up to the outer atmosphere, he is a highly intelligent man capable of far more than most people know. His brain is developed farther than that of most other people’s, which means that he has super genius-level intelligence, and that also means that he might regard many people as lesser than him. He has used his intelligence to harness the Makluan Power Rings, develop directed energy weapons, advanced spacecraft, and even built upon Makluan science - it is important to take note that Makluan science is centuries ahead of contemporary Earth science - thus cementing his reputation as one of the world’s most intelligent beings.

The Mandarin is able to show affection, and be romantic, and in fact prefers these things to being closed off to most people, but he has quite the hard time opening up to a person enough that he can do these things. He shows his affection in his own ways when he can’t find the will to open up enough to do it normally, with little statements, and small actions that most wouldn’t notice as affection, or romance. He’s not a hermit, and he likes people, but he simply can’t open up to people as soon as he meets them to save his life, even if he is social.

Gene, despite this, is an extremely social individual, who likes to be around people, even if he’s closed off to most to the point that he can’t properly show his affection, which he reserves for those closest to him. He often hosts events, gives speeches, makes public announcements, and tries to make sure that he stays active as the CEO of the Prometheus Corporation, and keeps the company on the most important pages of the newspaper. Many would think that the infamous Mandarin would keep to himself, but how else would he socialize, run a company, make allies, and hire people to hunt down his enemies aside from being social, and keeping up with the best of them?

Raised as an aristocrat in the traditionalist culture of pre-revolutionary China, and descended from the highest caste of nobility, Gene Kahn is well-mannered, extremely polite in most circumstances, but is unafraid to speak his mind. He opens up doors for women, shows people the way, aids in day-to-day events, but he is never afraid to speak up, state his opinion, what he dislikes and likes, what he wants, or making a statement of fact, for he sees staying quiet as one of the rudest things you could do. He always tries to be polite when he’s speaking his mind, but sometimes things simply don’t go the way you want them to go, and that means that, occasionally, he ‘loses’ and lets everything loose.

The Mandarin has never been known to trust anyone, for any reason, unless they got so close to him that they could be regarded as family, and everyone is aware of the fact that, for some reason, he has severe trust issues. Due to his manipulative nature, he has found himself very frequently feigning trust to get closer to someone, or to manipulate in any of the many ways that he knows how to lure a person with his forked tongue. As a 143 year old, the realization that almost everyone is untrustworthy hit him like a brick when he has been betrayed multiple times, and didn’t learn his lesson, over the years, but now he has his mind closed off to prevent trust from taking a strong hold over him, unless someone has proven that they deserve it time, and time again, even though he doesn’t hinder himself by doing everything himself.

Ambition is nothing without the drive to drive it forward, and one’s drive is never used to its fullest without the ambition to fuel it, with both of these character traits being important to each other when it comes to creating an individual that thinks big, and reaches for his dreams to make them a reality. Gene Kahn has always been a highly ambitious individual, driven to achieve more than his peers, and was seen as highly competitive in all of his actions, but that’s not the only thing that came along with his ambition, and his drive. He seeks out his enemies to smite them, he seeks out his allies to bring them into the fold, and he builds up his empire as he attempts to achieve more and more in life, ranging from becoming the king of two city-states, to running one of the largest corporations on the planet (it’s probably somewhere in the top 10).

He has shown time, and time again that he is a leader, from when he organized villains to combat the Defiant Sword, to leading the Prometheus Corporation since the 60s, to ruling first over the City-State of Mandarin before he conquered Hong Kong, and incorporated it into his controlled territories. In leadership, the Mandarin is a highly talented individual that is well-versed in military tactics, military technology, economy, diplomacy, finance, making executive decisions, branding, marketing, and a dozen other things that he took upon himself to do before he had filled proper leadership positions in the Prometheus Corporation, and the City-State of Mandarin. He can lead hundreds into battle, organize a team of superpowered individuals to take on the Defiant Sword, and host an incredible keynote in the boardroom, all through the power of his mind, and the skills he has learned in 143 years.

The Mandarin has a relatively high level of self-control, that has been mixed with incredible curiosity untainted, and remaining unjaded even by over 14 decades of life in which he has learned how to control impulses, and to indulge his curiosity at the same time. The Mandarin’s curiosity drove him to the Valley of Spirits in a mixture of defiance, and the need to prove others wrong, and he soon discovered the ten rings that would turn him into a master villain. His curiosity is an undeniable trait that Gene Kahn embraces wholly as a part of him, same with his self-control. On the other hand, his self-control kept him from running blindly into battle during the Fall of Hong Kong, enabling him to keep a strong grasp over himself instead of dying. The great Mandarin has these traits to thank for him being alive, and for him having an incredibly long lifespan.

Loyalty isn’t really a trait you would normally associate with the oft ruthless Gene Kahn, but you can find loyalty in his heart as easily as you would find trust, which, honestly, isn’t all that easy to find if you really want to think about it. Like with his trust, you have to earn the Mandarin’s loyalty, and because it is loyalty that means that it is twice as hard to obtain as the near-unattainable trust. Loyalty to the Mandarin means sticking by someone’s side, defending them, staying behind so that they and their friends can go forward, minimizing the amount of lies you tell, or getting rid of them completely, with varying levels of these being given depending on the individual, not to mention only some of these actions of loyalty being given depending on the individuals.

Gene has had to rely on far too many as he grew up, even if those people were dead, including his parents for their wealth, and his grandmother to raise him, not to mention those people he became close friends with in his conquering, and his company running. That’s why he has taken a pledge of independence, and is willing to do as much as is reasonable to keep his independence in even the smallest areas of his life. He makes sure that he doesn’t have to rely on people too much, and always is prepared to be disappointed by those he has given a task.

He is brave, very brave, with the willingness to go into battle side-by-side his corporate security forces, or the military of the City-State of Mandarin, but he prefers to have his lackies work on lesser tasks, while taking the more important tasks himself. Of course, his lackies are allowed to take on more important tasks, but the Mandarin is a busy man, and doesn’t want to waste his time, so he will do many of his important tasks happily. His employees, servants, and those who follow his will are all talented in their own skills, and he will take full of advantage of them, because with varying levels of “trust” (he has different kinds of trust. Professional trust, and personal trust. Professional trust is hard to get, but easier to get parts of, though he doesn’t really wholly trust anyone in a professional setting. Personal trust is incredibly, well, intimate to him, and, thus, is harder to get a hold of. These two types of trust have varying levels, of course) a person is granted the right to do more things, or be trusted with higher tasks.

Gene is a somewhat judgemental person, who tries his hardest to keeps his judgements to himself for the sake of diplomacy, and being polite or well-mannered, but his arrogance is the real taker of the cake here. The Mandarin is extremely arrogant when it comes to his power and intellect, but is only vain because he likes nice things, believes it is what his parents would want, and because he believes it is required of him. His vanity, however, has often led to better diplomatic meetings, and the avoidance of a war with China (at least until the Mandarin is absolutely confident that he can take them on in a battle for land).

He’s also a very manipulative person, who has a tongue as forked as the tongue of the infamous Satantic serpent itself, allowing him to easily sway people his way, and charm them like there is no tomorrow. Gene Kahn’s manipulative skills only seemed to improve when his Makluan-affected physiology showed itself, with his changes seemingly extending into various regions of the brain, which only worsens with the encroaching spread of the Heart of Darkness. That said, he’s so manipulative that it has literally become a natural impulse, and he often tricks people into getting what he wants, though he is trying very hard to get out of this “habit” that has embedded itself in the personality center of his mind.

The Mandarin isn’t a bad person, he just does what he wants, and what’s best for him, his city, and his company, and doesn’t care too much about who gets in his way, with him being the poster child of Neutral Evil, even if he’s capable of truly terrifying acts of inhumanity.

History

Younger Years (Younger Years + The Ten Makluan Power Rings + The Great War of Asia + The Founding of the City-State of Mandarin):

The Mandarin was born to one of the last remaining male heirs to the mantle of the Clan of Kahn, a direct descendant of Ghengis Kahn, and one of the three wealthiest men in all of China at the time of Gene Kahn’s birth. His mother was of European nobility, but she died at childbirth, leaving Gene Kahn motherless, and spiteful at his father for constantly pushing her throughout the pregnancy, and not giving her the proper nutrition, or attention. He was a trouble child throughout his first ten years, and would find only regret in the loss of his father because of the way that he treated the man who was largely responsible for his existence in this world, even if the man killed his mother in young Gene’s eyes.

Gene, having inherited an absolutely massive fortune from both his mother and father that still exists well into modern days in the form of gold, gems, and land, went to live with his grandmother, who wanted to continue the strenuous education of martial, and traditional, but high-end schooling that his father was putting him through. She used some of the money to send him to a private academy and university for the next two decades, or so, but during that time away from home the Mandarin would quickly be inspired by the story of the Valley of Spirits. Everyone had told him to stay away from the Valley, but Gene Kahn wasn’t one to be dissuaded by what he perceived to be silly superstition, what he perceived to be the twisting of a history he would discover within.

After venturing into the Valley of Spirits at age 11, the boy discovered a Makluan starship, which was something unlike anything he had ever seen, but he had seen it in a dream calling to him, and that was when he walked up to the ship. It opened up to reveal something that was absolutely marvelous, and the child that would come to be known as the Mandarin found that his mind was more than capable of slowly, but steadily beginning to understand something centuries ahead of anything on planet Earth. He found the Makluan Power Rings after a couple of weeks of venturing, and went to place them on each of his fingers, but they ended up hovering up, and fitting themselves perfectly to his young hands, with them growing as he did.

The day he found the rings was the day that he became the biologically immortal Mandarin, who would stop aging somewhere in his twenties, and, at first, he would keep everything secret, not wanting to reveal something so utterly amazing to the idiots at his school, which he only used to learn traditional things such as botany, knowledge of herbs and spices, cooking, and other things he would need for life, or what he wanted to learn. He was made fun of for the knowledge he sought out, when most other boys focused on things like tactics, and war, but his prowess in those subjects allowed Gene Kahn to put his tormentors in their place. He didn’t know what the future held for him, but he knew that graduating top of his class with the highest possible honors, buying a couple of mines, and beginning to revel in his already obscene, and constantly growing wealth was good… too good for things to be this easy in his life.

To avoid what he believed would come about due to too much success in his life, the great Gene Kahn dropped the so-called advantage of being avoid conscription as a high-ranking member of the nobility, and joined the military. He was certain that his incredible skills as a prodigy of the martial arts, his potential for leadership, and his other traits would allow him to breeze on by in the world of the military, though it would be more difficult to do so than in his current life, when the Great War of Asia broke out. China declared war on Russia, and Japan, with the great empire of China being backed by Gene Kahn, who aided in modernization efforts, China would only arise victorious, with China gaining territory from Russia, and her neighbors, but losing ground to Japan.

Shortly after becoming a general of the Chinese military, Gene Kahn, now known across the whole of Asia, and further as the Mandarin, was shipped to southern China, with his elite military in tow, in efforts to conquer nations that China has long wanted as her own. Instead of fighting in the name of the Empire of the Song, the Mandarin rallied an entire army behind him, and conquered most of Southern China. He ordered the building of Mandarin, and named his new nation the City-State of Mandarin, with the nation becoming one heck of a fighting force, that easily combated the efforts of a weakened Song Empire as China lost ground to the Russians, and the Great War of Asia finally concluded with Hong Kong becoming an independent nation, and much of the City-State of Mandarin wishing to conquer Hong Kong but fearing starting another war.

World War Two (World War Two + Fall of Hong Kong & Expansion of Territory + The Princess Bride):

When the Second World War started to truly pick up pace, war broke out in Asia and the City-State of Mandarin would be granted its wish to acquire more territory, something that was incredibly important to the nation solidifying their power. The Fall of Hong Kong was an epic battle between Japanese forces (which were there to blindside Mandarin forces in a coastal assault) against Chinese forces, both of which were also fighting Mandarin’s greatest warriors, and the Mandarin coming onto the battlefield on his great steed, in his family’s armor only proved to lead to the razing of the enemy militaries. The Fall of Hong Kong was the first annexation of territory, with the second being a contract with Portugal that led to the acquisition of Macao, and and treaties or alliances with most of Asia.

Throughout the war, the City-State would come under attack, and would revolt against China by annexing more territories, and against Japan by bombing one of their military outposts, and attacking their fleets. However, Mandarin would stand strong against the constant onslaught of China’s attempts to reconquer territory, and against Japan’s multi-thronged assault in which they spread themselves out just a bit too far. It was unfortunate that the City-State had to suffer from such things, or so that’s what the rest of the world heard when the victors arose from the dust and ashes of the world’s people once the battle had settled.

Over a decade after the war, the Mandarin was astounded by the beauty, and enchanting laughter of the British Princess Savannah, who, after 6 months of courting, he took as his beloved wife, and together they would give birth to children. He made Savannah immortal, and she gave birth to many children up to the nineties, which was around when Temujin was birthed into the world. Unknown to them at the time, the young Princess Savannah would end up dying, but not before 40 decades of life together was cemented into the immortal mind of Gene Kahn, who had used his Chi to give eternal life to Savannah.

The Middling Years (Beginning of the Prometheus Corporation + Death of a Lover + The Defiant Sword + The Heart of Darkness + The Eye of Yin):

After many years, during the early 70s, the Prometheus Corporation was founded by Gene Kahn during a series of patent filings, where he would begin the research and production of some of the most advanced products on the globe, many of which were inspired by Makluan technology. The Prometheus Corporation, named after the Greek Titan who brought fire to man, was a true titan of industry, and one of the 70’s avid supporters for the legalization of cannabis, which was something they would be reiterated in modern times with their voice, and multiple cannabis-related products. To be frank, Gene Kahn was a major pot head, and still occasionally enjoys the drug, which led to a wide variety of different things, though not even the greatest of highs could shield him from something that was an echo of his past, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

The Prometheus Corporation butted heads with companies like Apple, Hammer Industries, and Stark Industries, but was incredibly close to the British A.R.M. company, IMB, and Microsoft, if not simply because of the fact that Gene Kahn met with each of them. The decorated war hero, being decorated after serving side-by-side the Mandarin Military in an armed conflict with China, before organizing a diplomatic summit, wasn’t outed as a supernatural being just yet, but people had their suspicions. These suspicions were confirmed shortly after Gene Kahn had a surgery to implant the rings into the Modular Spinal Implant, and implant the implant itself into his spine, with the Mandarin in ‘recovery’ (he healed himself, but put on a good act), and an attack on a corporate summit was stopped by him as he rose out of his chair, and squashed the attackers with the might of his rings.

Prometheus would parent the company Prometheus Gentech, Inc. which would work on high-technology, secretive projects, and even share information with the Weapons Plus Project so that the Mandarin could indulge his curiosity, and start work on a project of his own. Prometheus Gentech, Inc. was working on a serum to safely activate the X-Gene in human beings, but, like all their other projects, they kept this very hush hush, and continue to keep the development of the serum, and other technologies in the same veil. With his wife pregnant again, Gene was happy, but completely oblivious to the terror and pain he would encounter as he clutched onto the hand of his dead wife as her hand began to grow cold.

The person that he loved most, the mother of his many, many children died during childbirth birthing Gene Kahn’s greatest son, Temujin, into existence, which would lead to the Mandarin becoming a particularly ruthless individual with a closed-off, incredibly broken heart. He put on a good face for the young Temujin, and kept the act up for far too long, before he finally pushed things a bit too far and the Defiant Sword encountered the Mandarin in an absolutely epic battle. Gene Kahn murdered a man in broad daylight, but diplomatic immunity kept him safe from being affected by the laws of America, but the Defiant Sword, already a thorn in Mandarin’s side with his destruction of various shipments, factories, and other corporate property, decided to take law into his own hands.

Gene Kahn fought the Defiant Sword in his updated armor, with his rings, and, though pretty on par, the Mandarin’s loss coupled with two incredibly high stress jobs meant that he wasn’t as capable in battle as he should have been. The Defiant Sword apprehended Gene Kahn, and almost killed him, but Gene teleported out of range of the Defiant Sword back to the Capitol of the country that he led, and he demanded that the Defiant Sword was brought to justice. Nothing came of it, even when Merchant Halliwell outed himself as the Defiant Sword, but, from that point onward, Gene Kahn hoped to decimate Merchant Halliwell as he saw the man as his archnemesis. The worst part was that the Defiant Sword stole several blueprints detailing technology used in the Mandarin’s armor, built on it, built his own suit, and then beat the shit out of the Mandarin with his own technology.

While in search of the power to defeat Merchant Halliwell, and to make sure that people weren’t as able to easily defeat him, Gene Kahn would be called by the Heart of Darkness once it detected the potential for pure, and utter evil in him, as well as the (incredibly dormant) demon lineage of his bloodline. He acquired the Heart of Darkness, used its shards to enhance the power of the rings, set several dozen shards to the side for future use, and imbuing his armor, and sword, and condensed the most powerful part into a crystal small enough to be used in a ring. That ring was grafted to his spine, while the other shards had a constant link to the Mandarin, and provided him with all the power that he needed.

After realizing what it could do to him, the Mandarin sought out the Eye of Yin to slow the approaching doom that he had created when he totally screwed himself over by linking himself to the Heart of Darkness, and improve his power further. Gene Kahn didn’t want to become an evil, diabolical vicious creature of pure darkness, so he started to make deals for souls, and happiness, and good in a person’s life, but that would only temporarily stop or slow the spread of the cancer he had given himself. Now, he has two options, he will either die, or he will become that thing he would despise, even if he would still appear human when it was over.

When HYDRA took over, and SHIELD fell to their oldest foe, the Mandarin was busy, but he decided that events were far too important to leave to chance. The Mandarin quickly aligned himself with HYDRA for the first time, at least in secret, and worked against the foes of HYDRA. He is still a member of HYDRA, and hopes to aid them in fulfilling their goals, as long as he doesn’t out himself too early.

After a man hired by some moron came to take on the name of the Mandarin as a job, and nearly caused a major international issue, a satellite promptly targeted nearly everyone involved, including the actor himself, even if they were in prison. Many people woke up wondering why there was a hole in the ceiling, and a small crater in the ground accompanied by a bunch of dust. Fortunately, the City-State of Mandarin avoided issues regarding a lawsuit simply because they stated that a group of hackers accessed the satellite, and then falsified records… and no one could do anything about the obvious BS, because, well, the Mandarins were very grumpy, but mostly Gene.

Modern Day:

That’s the Story So Far!

Note: Edits will be made when a sufficient amount of time has passed for more sections to be added to the Mandarin’s history, and Modern Day may have its name changed so it can be given to the most recent section, or it will simply be expanded until it’s too large, and this needs to happen.

Roleplay

Gene’s finger tapped a slow thumping pattern on the armrest of his car, tapping his left foot out of boredom as he drove, the engine silent, with an escort in front of him, behind him, and to the sides of his sleek and futuristic vehicle. It was night, but the cloud cover that had been present in the daylight, as it muted the bright star that gave everything on Earth life was still overhead, and it blocked out the stars much more easily than it had mellowed out the sunlight. Even the moon had been hidden by the clouds, but its radiant glow creeped up and over the cloud cover to color the less dense clouds with silver light that would be bathing the ground on any other day, ”but these godforsaken clouds are keeping me from nature’s beauty.”

The city around them was as bright as ever, maybe a little bit dimmer since the city lights, which would blind anyone not used to them, weren’t being backed up by the moon, the stars, and anything else in the sky that gave off light. Sirens whined somewhere in the night, and he longed to close his eyes, but kept them open as the latest car lights beamed forward, and iluminated the road, as well as letting other cars know he was there. ”Sovereignty.” He spoke to the same A.I. that was in his suit, ”please print out my speech on individual notecards Give us a 250 word minimum sample of your character in action.”

”Of course, Master Kahn.” The female voice sounded from the car, and not from his implant or suit like they usually did.

”The public doesn’t know the full extent of my powers, nor do they know that I am the Mandarin. They believe that the Mandarin is simply a champion of my nation, a symbol of our might, but a mere soldier all the same. He isn’t. I just won’t reveal the truth to them yet, the full truth, at least. I have to play this carefully. Too much, and I am hated; too little, and they aren’t satisfied; the wrong thing said, they find out later, and I look bad because of it.” This was already stressing him out a little, but that’s reasonable. Most others would be a nervous wreck by now, but not the man who leads a country, runs a company, and aids HYDRA. Not the century-old king of a city-state. This would be easy, or at least it should be, but recent events, and legislation may lead to issues in that area.
